Based on my experience with baklava, I proposed splitting one with my friend, Yvette. Instead, she insisted that I would be capable of finishing one on my own, because I’m a glutton, and because Serano Bakery baklava is unbelievably light. Instead of a solid brick varnished in syrupy honey, the flaky layers are lightly stacked with an equally light honey drizzled over it.
I don’t remember the name of the second dessert from Serano Bakery, because Yvette told me while I was eating so I heard very little. I like dainty pastel macarons, but I liked these messy looking ones even more. Every bite was a combination of the chewiness one expects from macarons, with walnut chips throughout, and a messy chocolate layer in the middle. Everything I love in one bite-size package.
