Ramen Isshin doesn’t have the sexiest decor, looking like an scaled up cafeteria, but pulls out all the stops with flavour. I enjoyed my Isshin Red Miso Ramen, which combined sweet red miso with porky goodness, but my significant other didn’t even come up for air while inhaling his Spicy Black Tan Tan Noodle. His review: the spiciness doesn’t come from the heat, but from the combination of strong flavours; a great dish. We both enjoyed the chewiness of the noodles, and they held up well to my (slightly) slower pace of eating. He was hungry enough to order takoyaki on the side and mango pudding for dessert, and thoroughly enjoyed both. His only quibble was that Ramen Isshin is not yet licensed, and he couldn’t have a beer to wash it all down. Update: as per the comment below, Ramen Isshin is now licensed!
