After unveiling 24 magical Kdrama moments, it is Christmas Day, and we present one of our favourite Kdramas of all time, “First Shop of Coffee Prince”.
Episode 10 of First Shop of Coffee Prince
Coffee chaebol, Choi Han Gyul (Gong Yoo) has been fighting his attraction towards his employee, Go Eun Chan (Yoon Eun Hye). Han Gyul cannot accept that he is attracted to a man, while Eun Chan is afraid that Han Gyul will reject her as a girl. Much angst ensues as Han Gyul alternates between ignoring and mistreating her.
After recalling all the things he likes about Eun Chan, Han Gyul drives back to the coffee house where she is cleaning after hours as punishment. Han Gyul comes running into the coffee house. A shocked Eun Chan tries to explain why she is painting on the wall mural, when Han Gyul leaps forward. With her head in his hands, he gives her a long, lingering kiss.
When Han Gyul pulls away, they stare at each other with trepidation before Eun Chan suddenly returns the kiss.
After slowly separating, they both seem to be in a state of shock. Han Gyul then states that he likes her and doesn’t care if she is a man. He is willing to see how far they can take the relationship.
Eun Chan is ready to cry with relief, but tackles Han Gyul with a hug, instead. Han Gyul holds Eun Chan, and smiles.
This scene came as such a relief. It finally broke the tension between Han Gyul and Eun Chan, and in spectacular fashion. Yet, it is tinged with sadness, because we know that it will be a short lived happiness. After all, Eun Chan can’t keep the charade going much longer. However, we can enjoy the union of two great kissers in the interim.

I KNEW Coffee Prince was going to be our Christmas Day present 🙂
This drama is such a classic.
And that scene along with the one where they went to the beach and he hugged her from behind are my favorites.
Love the drama, Love them together.
Merry Christmas Only and Kaenada!

Thanks! Sorry for the lateness, but Merry Christmas to you too!

If you can find it, I recommend the novella the drama is based on. I found an obscure fan translated version somewhere that managed to convey a quirky but winsome tone. Han Gyul is much more obviously a chaebol playboy and Eun Chan more feral – approaching food (meat) and work with even more single-mindedness.
