Cinderella and Four Knights 7.2

Playboy Hyun Min (Ahn Jae Hyun) proposes to penniless orphan, Ha Won (Park So Dam) that they date. Hyun Min’s childhood friend, Hye Ji (Son Na Eun) and misfit chaebol, Ji Woon (Jung Il Woo) overhear everything. Hye Ji storms away, and Ji Woon follows to reassure her that there is nothing between Hyun Min and Ha Won, but Hye Ji already regrets befriending Ha Won. Meanwhile, Ha Won bluntly asks Hyun Min if he even likes her. When he cannot respond, she advises him to be honest with himself regarding his family and the women around him, then leaves.

Pop star Seo Woo (Lee Jung Shin) finds himself trapped at the high school by screaming teenage girls. Ha Won’s friend, Ja Young (Cho Hye Jung) lends him her school uniform, and thus, Seo Woo is able to escape by going incognito as the tallest student at the girls’ high school.

Hyun Min discovers that he is a laughing stock after the video of him being rejected by Ha Won is circulated online. Korean netizens are reveling in schadenfreude and calling him a “douchebag”. This universal rejection is too much for Hyun Min and he descends into a funk in which he mopes around the pond, sleeps a lot, and plucks leaves while playing ‘She loves me. She loves me not.’  The only solution Hyun Min can come up with is full facial surgery to change his identity, but the plastic surgeon has seen the video and suggests therapy instead.

Cinderella and Four Knights 7.3

After the Sky House housekeeper finds Ha Won’s note about running away from home, Secretary Yoon Sung (Choi Min) and Seo Woo go searching for her. Yoon Sung checks in with Ha Won’s evil stepmother who can only mock him and Ha Won. Seo Woo visits the coffee house where Ja Young works looking for Ha Won. Seo Woo is embarrassed to realize that Ha Won’s friend is the one who lent him her school uniform and begs Ja Young not to let anyone know he cross dressed. Ja Young has no idea where Ha Won is, so Seo Woo gives up the search and starts writing a song about missing Ha Won instead.

Though Ji Woon initially claims indifference, he joins the search for Ha Won and finds her eating instant jajangmyeon at the convenience store. She has set up places at the table for both of her absent parents, and becomes tearful about not being able to attend college. Pretending not to have overheard her, Ji Woon sits down at the table and invites Ha Won to return to Sky House. He reveals that he did visit his father’s memorial and gave the flower she left for his mother to his father, so her mission was successful.

Cinderella and Four Knights 7.5

Ha Won is warmly greeted at Sky House by everyone except Hyun Min. That is when she learns about the video that has been circulating online, and she begins to regret being harsh with Hyun Min. When she finally comes face-to-face with Hyun Min, he is unresponsive.

The Chairman rewards Ha Won for her successful mission with a weekend getaway at the family vacation home. She is told that she can invite whoever she wants, and this soon becomes another challenge for Ha Won to see if she can get all of the Chairman’s grandsons to go on vacation together.

Cinderella and Four Knights 7.6

Ji Woon appears to be warming up to Ha Won now that he knows that she is not actually engaged to Hyun Min. Yet, he instantly shuts her down when she proposes that they go on a group vacation.

Seo Woo proves easier to manipulate into joining the vacation. Thanks to Ja Young’s photos of Seo Woo wearing her school uniform, Ha Won blackmails Seo Woo’s manager into freeing up his schedule, and misleading Seo Woo into thinking he is going to perform in Thailand.

Cinderella and Four Knights 7.10

Ha Won’s stepsister is freaking out after reading online comparisons of Ha Won to Cinderella. Opportunity appears when Ha Won’s stepmother overhears the Chairman’s wife in conversation about recruiting women, while doing her beauty treatment. She assumes that blind dates are being arranged, and calls the same phone number to offer up her daughter as a candidate. The conversation is cut short when the question of her daughter’s current occupation comes up, and the stepmother is too ashamed to reveal that her daughter is unemployed.

Worried about Hye Ji, Ji Woon keeps calling and texting her, but receives no response. Hye Ji ignores Ji Woon, but decides to invite Ha Won to her studio after Ha Won messages her. Thus, she is able to confirm that Ha Won is back at Sky House, but Hye Ji now appears to bear no grudge against Ha Won. Ha Won proceeds to invite Hye Ji on the vacation in order to help her recruit Hyun Min and Ji Woon. Ji Woon walks in on this conversation, and objects to Ha Won’s attempt to manipulate him. Hye Ji accepts the invitation, and after Ha Won awkwardly leaves, Hye Ji tells Ji Woon that she needs him to come along on the vacation in order to help her face Hyun Min.

Cinderella and Four Knights 7.9

Ha Won’s father comes home early from work, and Ha Won’s stepmother goes to retrieve his belongings from the truck. She finds evidence that the father is searching for a Kang Young Jin, and figures out that the man might be Ha Won’s biological father. The stepmother decides to use this information to get Ha Won kicked out of Sky House.

After watching Ha Won struggle to get any response out of slumbering Hyun Min, Ji Woon promises to go on the vacation if she succeeds in getting Hyun Min to attend. Ha Won recalls Yoon Sung claiming that Hyun Min sleeps so soundly that he could be carried anywhere. Suddenly, Ji Woon’s mocking question about whether Ha Won will kidnap Hyun Min makes perfects sense to her.

Cinderella and Four Knights 7.8

Another fun episode with some really cute moments between Ji Woon and Ha Won. I love how their faces light up when they see each other, or while they’re reading each other’s text messages. Ji Woon is no longer giving Ha Won bitch face as a default, so when he does put it on, as he did in response to Ha Won’s suggestion that they go on a group vacation, it’s quite amusing.

Cinderella and Four Knights 7.7

I also had a good time at Hyun Min’s expense; seeing that the video of Hyun Min’s humiliation had been translated into English, Japanese and Chinese made me laugh out loud. I like how ridiculous the character was this entire episode, and Ahn Jae Hyun really played into it without going over the top.

Seo Woo’s cross dressing was also amusing, but not the manager’s harping on about it, nor Ha Won’s terrible idea to use the photos of Seo Woo cross dressing to blackmail. In my mind, blackmail that could end one’s career by a friend is pretty unforgivable. Since Seo Woo is a complete pushover, he will probably forgive Ha Won for this, and Ja Young for providing blackmail fodder. Yet, I found that Seo Woo and Ja Young had a spark together, and I would be in favour of seeing more scenes with them together. As questionable as her actions were, Ja Young has made boring Seo Woo more interesting.

Cinderella and Four Knights 7.4

Too bad there is no one to bring out the best in Hye Ji. Ji Woon tried repeatedly to reach her out of concern, and Hye Ji could not even be bothered to text him to say she was alive or to reiterate her request to leave her alone. Then, she decides to use him as an emotional crutch to face Hyun Min. She is also erratic where Ha Won is concerned. I was disheartened to see her direct her anger at Ha Won at the beginning of the episode, then worried when she invited Ha Won over to her studio, and finally, puzzled when she acted all cool about the situation so quickly. This character has become so creepy in her single minded focus on Hyun Min that she has become incongruous with what has usually been presented as a comedic character. Maybe she’ll lighten up while on vacation? For Hyun Min’s sake, let’s hope he doesn’t wake up to her intense, weepy stare.
