Mean Bao

We were all set to try another restaurant in the same food court, but were seduced by the siren song of freshly steamed bao at Mean Bao. We ordered pork belly bao, tofu and enoki mushroom bao, pork dumplings with red cabbage, and pork and shrimp siu mai. The tofu and enoki mushroom bao was the hit of the evening, with the tofu providing a pleasing contrast to the crunchy pickled vegetables, and the peanut sauce. The pork belly bao was best eaten with the pork belly and the vegetables in separate bites, as both parts were tasty but didn’t go that well together. The siu mai were quite good, but the pork and red cabbage dumplings, while well-made, weren’t very flavourful. I’d definitely go back to try some of the other items on the menu, especially from the current pop-up dinner menu.
