We count down the days to Christmas by unveiling 24 magical Kdrama moments. Next up, “Baby Faced Beauty”.
Episode 14 of Baby Faced Beauty
The burgeoning relationship of Lee So Young (Jang Na Ra) and Choi Jin Wook (Daniel Choi) takes a hit when she publicly reveals that she is about 10 years older than she claimed to be. Jin Wook is devastated that So Young lied to him for months, and breaks up with her, claiming he can never trust her again.
So Young stoically suffers the scorn of her colleagues and their digs about her age. Jin Wook initially stands by, saying nothing. However, a brutal staff social drives Jin Wook to drink, and So Young to leave early. Jin Wook defends So Young before running after her.
By the time Jin Wook comes face-to-face with So Young outside her home, he is stumbling and slurring his words. Liquid courage prompts Jin Wook to grab So Young in an embrace, then confess that he does not care what age she is, because he likes her.
As they separate, they stare into each other’s eyes, and Jin Wook reiterates his feelings. He lowers his head towards her, and the mood is ripe for a dreamy kiss.
Jin Wook’s head passes So Young’s so it looks like they might hug instead. Then, Jin Wook overshoots that option as well, and passes out in So Young’s arms. So Young struggles to keep Jin Wook upright, trying in vain to wake him up, before exclaiming in exasperation, “You’ll be the death of me.” Like the rest of “Baby Faced Beauty”, this moment manages to be touching and lighthearted at the same time.

Ah, loved that one. Another satisfying scene was the campfire when everyone gets So Young to sing (expecting her to suck after failing to bellydance) and she shocks everyone with her voice. I only wish they had kept it acoustic instead of the canned sound it turned into.
