Side dish: We’re in the middle of Passover so Bong Soon’s cracked walnuts won’t go to waste. She can use them to make The Rebbetzin Chef’s Persian Walnut Cookies.
Bong Soon (Park Bo Young) pitches Jang Hyun’s bomb into the air, which results in a fireworks display that delights all bystanders except Jang Hyun. She and Min Hyuk (Park Hyung Sik) go for dinner then contemplate spending the night together, but they are blocked by her father.
Alone at home, Bong Soon remembers how Min Hyuk refused to abandon her. Meanwhile, Min Hyuk gets sentimental about Bong Soon’s wish to save him then gets sexually frustrated over her suggestion that she stay overnight at his place. Bong Soon shows up unexpectedly at Min Hyuk’s door, and he places her on the piano before they kiss.
The next day, the police are on a man hunt for Jang Hyun, and Bong Soon is determined to find him, too. Cop, Gook Doo (Ji Soo) finds out that Jang Hyun tricked Bong Soon into losing her power, but she has since regained them.
In other news, the Planning and Development supervisor comes face-to-face with his doppelganger in Baek Tak’s gang. Baek Tak’s gangsters question the authenticity of his Buddhist monk friend. Bong Soon’s father has run away from home.
Min Hyuk is distracted from the search for Jang Hyun when Secretary Gong confesses to witnessing Gook Doo hugging Bong Soon. He finds himself unable to confront Bong Soon so he and Gook Doo bicker about Bong Soon over soju until she arrives hoping to discuss strategies for catching Jang Hyun. She ends up hauling the inebriated men back to Min Hyuk’s place.
The next morning, Bong Soon announces that she intends to catch Jang Hyun herself and she wants Min Hyuk and Gook Doo’s help. Gook Doo guesses that Jang Hyun will attempt to smuggle himself out of the country, and Min Hyuk asks Baek Tak to look into it. Bong Soon asks her teen thugs to distribute photos of Jang Hyun.
Though he is cornered, Jang Hyun manages to purchase a sniper rifle off the black market and passage on a cargo ship to China, which Baek Tak reports to Min Hyuk. Following Gook Doo’s advice, Bong Soon taunts Jang Hyun when he calls her, and baits him into meeting her that night.
Bong Soon shares her plans with Min Hyuk who reluctantly accepts her hero status and the danger that comes with it. He and Gook Doo provide support to Bong Soon at the meeting spot, and thus, witness Jang Hyun shoot Bong Soon. Min Hyuk runs to check on Bong Soon then joins Gook Du in chasing after Jang Hyun to the port where he intends to escape to China.
Jang Hyun is trapped by shipping containers and Bong Soon appears before him, having been saved by the bullet proof vest provided by Min Hyuk. Bong Soon bombards walnuts at Jang Hyun then traps him in a cage, leaving him to be picked up by the police.
Episode Review
Only is away this week, so we’ve drafted in occasional Noona, Jin Joo (진주) to step in.
Junggugeo Kaenada 중국어 캐나다: Thank goodness the newly heroic Bong Soon was focused on catching Jang Hyun, because Min Hyuk and the writer seemed determined to distract her and the viewers from this important task.
Jin Joo 진주: I didn’t mind the distraction of Bong Soon’s sleepover at Min Hyuk’s place. That was a nice and unexpected interlude.
Junggugeo Kaenada: Park Hyung Sik and Park Bong Soon worked pretty hard to put some heat into that scene. I’m not sure why it didn’t quite work; maybe, their characters were too cute up until that point, or the soundtrack worked against them. But, I agree, it was nice.
Jin Joo: However, I could have done without the rest of the distractions regarding the Planning and Development supervisor, the fake Buddhist monk, and Bong Soon’s parents. The worst extraneous story development was Min Hyuk’s jealous fit about Gook Doo hugging Bong Soon.
Junggugeo Kaenada: Fortunately, Bong Soon got the boys’ attention and decided to include them in her plans. Thus, we got a crime fighting team that finally succeeded in capturing Jang Hyun.
Jin Joo: My only complaint was how anticlimactic the final battle between Jang Hyun and Bong Soon was. When Bong Soon told Jang Hyun that he was no match for her, it was so apparent that it sucked all excitement out of the scene.
Junggugeo Kaenada: Jang Hyun’s downfall was really rapid in comparison to how many episodes we were forced to watch him torture his victims and befuddle the cops. Whipping walnuts at him hardly seems like justice.
Jin Joo: Well, Jang Hyun is finally gone, and now, we can look forward to focusing on Min Hyuk and Bong Soon in the finale.
Junggugeo Kaenada: If only we had gotten to the crime fighting awesome threesome of Bong Soon, Min Hyuk and Gook Doo earlier. I would have enjoyed watching more competent heroics.
Jin Joo: We’ll just have to settle for the epic cuteness of Bong Soon and Min Hyuk.
