Maha’s Egyptian Brunch

Maha’s Mind Blowing Chicken: “Maha’s sacred marinate, tossed with parsley, onions and tomatoes, served on a toasted egg bun with Tomeya (garlic sauce), home made mayo and tehina.” Perhaps it was the menu description, but my expectations were high for this dish. The sourness of the sauce did indeed make a strong impression. The chicken itself was served in small strips that resulted in dryness.

Basturma Scramble: “Thinly sliced cured beef with fenugreek, garlic and Egyptian spices, sauteed in butter before mixed into our three egg scramble. This incredibly savoury combination is unlike anything you’ve tasted before. Served with our charred balady bread and our house greens.” The spices were milder than I expected, and contrary to their claim, I have tasted its like before. I prefer my scrambled eggs slightly runny, so I found this one a bit dry, especially in combination with the charred bread. A passable brunch dish, but nothing special.
